Hiatus.

June 15, 2009

If you hadn’t guessed already, this blog is going on a little hiatus. I’ve started an internship blogging at popsense.com for the summer and will be doing my pop culture musings largely over there. The prospect of keeping both blogs active makes my mind fatigued and my hands fearful of carpal tunnel. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have one last quickie.

For fear of my brain turning into a big pile of summer mush, I’ve gone out of my way to keep my mind active and creative. I bought this photography book on Bedford tonight & am enthralled with Nan Goldin’s depiction of New York in the 80’s. Heroin, bad hair, sex: it’s all here. Put in the context of present-day, Goldin’s photographs might not seem as fresh. After all, aren’t we growing a little tired of images of pretty hipsters drunk on street corners? At the time, however, Goldin’s voyeuristic peek into the lives of her friends was innovative and provocative. You can sense that as a new reader as well.

OK. That’s it. I’m tired.

TA TA 4 NOW,
